Practitioners and Training

Our practitioners have high expectations of children and delivering high quality care and teaching, ensuring all children develop as individuals and make good progress in their learning. We expect all our practitioners to engage in skilful and sensitive interactions to support a child’s learning. This ensures play experiences and interactions indoors and outdoors are appropriate to each child’s development, and provides further challenge. Practitioners must have the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to observe, evaluate and plan for children’s learning effectively, identifying and meeting any additional needs. Our practitioners are crucial in providing high quality experiences for our children and our aim is to offer them training opportunities to support their knowledge and understanding of childcare and education. Children learn best where adults are keen to continue their own learning and development.

We work with People and Business Development  http://pbdevelopment.co.uk/ to offer practitioners NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, and others to offer those in our Montessori settings recognised Montessori qualifications. We also encourage practitioners to access other higher level qualifications, such as Foundation Degree in Early Years and encourage them to achieve Early Years Teacher Status. This provides us with a fantastic opportunity to train our own practitioners from the beginning of their career and help them to progress to senior roles. We have supported a number of practitioners in achieving higher level qualifications, some all the way up to Masters Degrees.

We also provide additional in-house training for all practitioners and encourage them to develop their continuous professional development.  We work with Logic Safety Solutions and aim to have a high percentage of practitioners in each setting first aid trained, exceeding the statutory requirements. We provide all practitioners with in-house training in various other topics, such as EYFS, Child Protection, and Effective Teaching and Learning, keeping their knowledge and understanding up to date.
